The laboratory is located in Grottaglie’s ceramic neighbourhood, more precisely, under the “Castello Episcopio”. Carmelo Carriero’s lab was born in 1979 when, after working since the age of 13 as an errand boy in other laboratories of the town and having graduated from an artistic high school, the “Istituto D’Arte”, he started is own production of everyday use ceramic, but also personalized table sets, party favours and other on-demand manufacts. The internal structure of the laboratory is very articulated, with some completely excavated in the tuff zones. Carmelo is helped by his son Francesco and two employees with more than ten years of experience.

 

Carmelo Carriero's ceramics are manufactured according to ancient craftsmanlike techniques which guardantee their uniqueness.

As the shapes, the decorations and the colours of the ceramics are strictly hand moulded and hand decorated, they will be susceptible to small changes as regards the photos reproduced in this catalogue.
